While many community events took place throughout the County on bank holiday weekend the LOROS team was involved in “Our Leicester Day” on Sunday 24th August . Although the weather was gloomy the atmosphere during the event was fantastic.
Our Leicester Day is part of Leicester Festival Week and calls for organisations across Leicester and Leicestershire to showcase their causes. This year’s event was the fourth of its kind and involved 70 organisations including LOROS.
The event was a great opportunity for us to raise awareness about the care we provide whilst also running a few fundraising activities which included selling fantastic handmade jewellery made by our volunteer Teresa and promoting our LOROS donation stations.
Neil McGhee, organiser of Our Leicester Day said, “LOROS had a great presence at Our Leicester Day. We would like to thank the LOROS team for showing other promoters how to grasp the opportunity of meeting potential supporters and volunteers. Whenever I looked over, LOROS were quietly chatting with visitors, hopefully getting their points across.
"We are already looking at ways to increase the footfall by getting more of the Sky Drive riders to stop and take a look at all the organisations who are active in Leicester. Please feel free to share any ideas you might have that will bring even more visitors to your stall next year. I hope you are coming!”
Magdalena Korytkowska, Partnership Development Assistant at LOROS said, “A big thank you to the organisers of this event for inviting us to attend. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to reach the public and promote the work that is carried out at the Hospice".
