On Saturday night, legendary snooker champions Steve Davis & John Parrot battled it out over games of Snooker at the Leicester Grammar School Hall to raise money for LOROS.

LOROS is a charity, whose aim is to enhance the quality of life of adult patients with cancer, progressive neurological conditions and end-stage organ failure for whom curative treatment is no longer possible. Patients are treated at the Hospice and in the community based upon clinical need, regardless of background and the ability to pay.

The Celebrity Snooker Challenge was set to raise money and awareness of LOROS. With over 2,500 patients accessing the free services each year and with support from a grant from the NHS, this leaves around £4.5 million annually for LOROS to raise. The charity relies on the support of the local community and businesses in order to raise these vital funds.

The evening, full of laughter, entertainment and games of snooker, was hosted by former Snooker player and commentator John Virgo, who entertained the audience with a series of trick shots assisted by several people in the audience.

Former Professional Snooker players Davis and Parrott then played doubles with Leicester City Football Legends Muzzey Izzet & Steve Walsh, which was followed by a match against two of the Winchester Snooker Club’s academy players.

The event became more interactive and challenging as Davis played against a 7 year old snooker enthusiast, Westley Cooper and a member of the audience was selected to play a game against Parrott. The evening finished with a 3 frame match against Indian’s no1 player, Aditya Mehta with Steve Davis winning 2-1.

The auction & raffle raised over £2,700 for LOROS and the Paul Hunter Foundation.

The main organiser of the event, Mukesh Parmar of Winchester Snooker Club, Wigston said, "The audience were thoroughly entertained by all the great players and I am so pleased we raised a significant sum for LOROS and the Paul Hunter Foundation".
